Mentoring Brother 2 Brother, Inc

African American Male Youth Symposium

Saturday, January 26, 2008

University of Texas-Arlington, University Center

MB2B AAMYS Corporate Sponsorship Info
We are seeking corporate sponsorships for our first African American Male Youth Symposium.  The symposium will be held in partnership with the UTA Office of Multicultural Affairs on
Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the University of Texas at Arlington at the University Center.

There is a great need within the African American community for positive events that specifically target African American young men.  Recent studies and research reflect that many of our African American male youth encounter a culture and society that often does not give the necessary direction and empowerment these young men so desperately need.  Consistent positive influences for minority male youth in our community can be a challenge for both the youth and adults, but, Mentoring Brother 2 Brother wishes to offer a creative and targeted solution to a very large societal problem affecting our African American young men through a one-day symposium with a mission of providing the tools, resources, as well as a new thinking processes and positive male images of what is available to them beside derogatory rap, gang, drugs and other negative peer, personal and societal influences.  And the Mentoring Brother 2 Brother organization wishes to be a catalyst and community leader for the development of this type of targeted community event.

We are specifically seeking corporate sponsorships for this free event targeting at-risk and disenfranchised minority male youth from within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area. Our 2008 African American Male Youth Symposium has the following Corporate Sponsorship levels.

MB2B African American Male Youth Symposium Overview

There is a great need within the African American community for events, conferences, workshops and summits that specifically target our African American young men.  Recent studies and research reflect that many of our African American male youth encounter a culture and society that often does not support or celebrate who they are or give the necessary direction and empowerment these young men so desperately need.  Positive influences are often few and far between and MB2B wishes to offer as creative and targeted solution to a very large societal problem affecting our African American young men through a one-day conference with a mission of providing the tools, resources, as well as a new thinking processes and positive male images of what other alternatives are available to them beside derogatory rap, gang, drugs and other negative peer, personal and societal influences.

As there are and have been many youth summits, conferences and other similar workshops with the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex community, there have been very few if any of these types of events that are specifically designed and targeted for African American male youth.  Mentoring Brother 2 Brother wishes to be a catalyst and community leader for the development of this type of summit or conference.

Symposium Mission: A one-day symposium targeting 100-250 African American as well as other minority young men aged six to eighteen from the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX metroplex area.  A youth summit with a diversity of workshops on the topics of: Manhood 101, Financial Empowerment, Sports, and Arts & Culture.  Over 50% of conference participants will be by invitation only through other local mentoring organizations/non-profits, and youth/children departments of area churches that serve African American as well as other minority young men within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex area. The other 25% will be open to the community and/or area school districts specifically targeting African American male students.
